Systems and OT Specialist
The Systems and Operations Technology Specialist is responsible for the deployment, integration, and management of operational technology systems, data acquisition infrastructure, and OT cybersecurity frameworks for 1RE-operated assets in strategic locations. The role ensures efficient, reliable, and optimized performance, while supporting sustainable energy generation. It also contributes to standardizing technology architecture across operations support and ensures compliance of operational technology with regulatory standards.
Strategic and Core Responsibilities
- Lead automation and controls group for the success of the automation projects.
- Ensures that works are carried out according to applicable standards and practice.
- Design and conceptualization of automation projects.
- Conceptualizes and designs PLC and SCADA system and configuration programming & logic setting
- Assist Tech BUs for resolution of SCADA/control system troubles & troubleshooting.
- Ensure to manage technological obsolescence (hardware and software)
- Assist resolution of protection system troubles & troubleshooting
- Prepares annual PAC plan and schedules
- Prepares accomplishment reports and observations and makes the necessary recommendations for improvement.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budgets. Monitor and implement approved budget within his scope of work.
- Ensure diagnostics are according to best practices and standards. Recommend action plans if necessary.
- Ensure administration of asset condition assessment and monitor status.
- Program equipment calibration plan and monitor implementations.
- Site supervision of asset maintenance when necessary.
- Prepares annual preventive maintenance plan and monitor implementation accordingly.
- Lead integration of new plants in the National Operations Control Center, ensure optimal SCADA system is achieved, aligned for plant equipment increase in availability and generation
Central Operations Technology
- Develop Strategic initiative to ensure that Operational readiness of all new 1RE plants are to be connected to NOCC seamlessly and within timeline.
- Ensures timely closing of OT asset vulnerabilities (Audit findings, internal VA , OT logs, AVEVA)
- Act as the bridge between Operations, IT, and Engineering, providing expert guidance and governance for PLC, SCADA, DCS and RTU integration, design reviews, and technical issue resolution.
Operations Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Serve as the organization’s primary subject matter expert (SME) on operations technology (OT), providing deep technical guidance on SCADA, PLCs, industrial networks, and grid integration systems across renewable energy facilities.
- Evaluate and recommend OT solutions that enhance system performance, reduce operational risks, and support strategic initiatives such as digital transformation and automation.
- Provide expert oversight during the planning, design, commissioning, and scaling of new renewable energy plants, ensuring OT infrastructure is aligned with fleet-wide strategy and cybersecurity requirements.
- Review and audit OT system configurations, integration plans, and change requests to ensure alignment with safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving technologies and act as a thought leader within the organization.
- Support due diligence and technical assessments for mergers, acquisitions, or asset onboarding with respect to OT infrastructure, interoperability, and risk.
Operations Technology Training and Support
- Develop and lead comprehensive training programs to upskill plant operators, field technicians, and engineering staff on operations technology systems, including SCADA platforms, PLCs, HMI interfaces, and networked control systems.
- Establish a centralized knowledge base or learning portal to provide easy access to OT training materials, documentation, and system status updates across the renewable energy fleet.
- Facilitate periodic workshops and hands-on sessions to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, system usage protocols, and new technology rollouts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (EE/ECE/ICE/ComEng), Information Technology, or Computer Science
- At least 3 years of related work experience in renewable energy generation (ROR, Wind, Solar, Geothermal) focusing on Control & Instrumentation and Operations Technology
- Preferably with project experience in system and OT application digitalization, implementation, and deployment
- Knowledgeable in Plant Control Systems, OT Applications, PLC, SCADA, DCS, RTUs, and other OT and networking devices.
- Must hold relevant licenses/certifications in Control & Instrumentation, OT Systems & Applications, or Project Management Training
