We are hiring a Senior Specialist – Materials Handling (MH) & Balance of Plant (BOP) for the AboitizPower Transition Business Group – North Luzon (GNPD). This role is for a licensed mechanical engineer who will be responsible for the equipment maintenance strategy and the execution of major PM/CM during outages.

 

  • Equipment Reliability: Responsible for the integrity and reliability of all Balance of Plant (BOP), Materials Handling (MH), Water Treatment, and Wastewater Treatment mechanical equipment.

  • Outage Leadership: Leads the technical planning, readiness, risk assessments, and execution of mechanical equipment overhauls, major PMs, and critical CMs during scheduled outages.

  • Contractor Management: Leads contractor teams during outages to ensure all work meets safety and technical quality standards while adhering to schedule and budget targets for a timely Return to Service (RTS).

  • Strategy Execution: Develops, refines, and executes cost-effective maintenance strategies by evaluating FMECA data and tracking equipment health in CMMS/Maximo.

  • Financial Oversight: Develops annual OPEX/CAPEX budgets for spares and services aligned with scheduled maintenance activities.

  • Safety & Compliance: Acts as a Responsible Person (RP) complying with the AboitizPower Life Saving Rules and GNPD PTW regulations, and manages formal Engineering Management of Change (MOC) reviews.

  • Incident Investigation: Utilizes the Incident Resolution System to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on unplanned outages and formulate corrective actions.

  • Operational Support: Supports 24-hour plant operations by maintaining readiness for overtime, night shift, standby duty, and emergency call-outs.

 

Candidates must meet the following technical and professional benchmarks to be considered for the position:

  • Education: Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional License: Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer.

  • Core Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of experience in the mechanical maintenance and reliability of Coal-fired Power Plants or a similar heavy industry.

  • Specialized Experience: Prior experience working with large-scale materials handling systems, water treatment, or wastewater treatment facilities is highly preferred.

  • Outage Expertise: Direct experience in planning and managing plant outages or turnarounds is considered a distinct advantage.

  • Preferred Credentials: Possession of a Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) License or a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.

  • Additional Requirement: A valid driver’s license is strictly required.
