Safety & Risk Specialist
Job Description:
The Safety & Risk Specialist is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and proactive risk management across the organization. This role ensures the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety protocols and compliance standards, aligning them with industry regulations and best practices. Through comprehensive risk assessment methodologies, the specialist identifies, evaluates, and mitigates potential risks to safeguard employees, assets, and operations. Additionally, the Safety & Risk Specialist plays a key role in project management by integrating risk management principles into project planning, execution, and review to ensure safety and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Safety Management
- Development & Implementation of Safety Plans and procedures specific to electrical engineering projects
- Conduct regular site safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols
- Coordinate and deliver safety training to workers and contractors involved in electrical projects
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- Perform thorough risk assessments for electrical projects, identifying potential hazards and implementing effective mitigation measures
- Conduct risk analysis and prepare reports on safety hazards and risk levels in electrical systems and installations
- Identify and evaluate safety risks related to electrical equipment, tools, and machinery
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with national and international electrical safety standards (e.g., IEC, OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to electrical work
- Stay updated on electrical engineering safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Safety Management, Civil Engineering or any 4-year related course.
- Must have a Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA)
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in:
- Safety management
- Risk assessment
- Power distribution or utility operations or construction, plant manufacturing operations.
- Proven track record in implementing safety protocols and risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine safety standards and regulations, including:
- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Occupational Safety and Health Standards
- Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) policies for power utilities
- Competence in project management, with familiarity in integrating safety and risk management into project workflows.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions
- Proficiency in safety tools, technologies, and incident reporting systems.
- Willingness to work in field operations and conduct site inspections in various locations.
- Strong communication and training skills to promote safety awareness among employees.
- Valid driver’s license (if site visits or fieldwork is required)
