The Performance Supervisor is responsible of optimizing and overseeing the discharge of duties and functions of the performance engineering team on power plant performance analysis, operational efficiency monitoring, asset management, geothermal resource management and quality improvement. The position initiates intensive operational data analysis, power plant performance improvement alternatives and provides technical guidance for the implementation of viable options to optimize power plant operation, generation losses recovery and key performance indicators analysis.

Power Plant Performance Improvement and Optimization

  • Supervises the development of statistical trend analyses of geothermal resource data and plant operational parameters that identifies variances critical to plant efficiency and creation of recommendation using data analytics to close the gaps based on baseline data.
  • Creates short- and long-term generation and key performance indicators forecasts and models in relation to current assumptions and status of geothermal resource, future power plant and steam field plans, activities and initiatives to support business objectives and strategies.
  • Supervises the analysis of affected plant systems and/or sub-systems during incidents with reliability losses, as it occurs and after the generating unit is restored; and for the pro-active development and implementation of quality improvement counter-measures in collaboration with plant production and maintenance team.
  • Ensures accuracy of performance reports (e.g., generation losses report, generation efficiency report, generation rolling forecast, geo performance monitoring report) and  monitors/evaluates plant key performance indicators in support of creating operational strategies to achieve business objectives and targets.
  • Determines and regularly updates the geothermal steam and/or brine availability and/or decline resource priority allocation to operating units, level of MW dispatch, and standby reserve generating unit capacity, all to optimize electricity production availability, improve steam rate / thermal efficiency and reduce specific operating cost electricity production.
  • As needed, conducts research and business cases in technical collaboration with power plant production and maintenance team, steam field facility operator and/or industry technical solution providers/research firms to provide commercially viable and timely solutions that enable geothermal resource optimization, while minimizing risk of malfunction of geothermal surface facilities and mitigates the losses associated with geothermal fluid decline.

Fuel Management through Geothermal Resources Supply and Services Agreement (GRSSA) 

  • Monitors and evaluates geothermal fluid supply quantity and quality from agreed GRSSA specifications and the initiation of appropriate remedies for quality deviations;
  • Conducts monthly meter reading report review in coordination with steam supplier (PGPC) to validate generation data and determine/settle data variances. 
  • Ensures, in collaboration with preventive maintenance teams, that instruments, meters and data recorders for steam supply and electricity production meets accuracy requirements for GRSSA and endorses, monthly meter reading for approval and payment on the basis all requirements are satisfactorily complied with; 
  • Determines Field Rated Capacity of the prevailing steam supply in coordination with the steam field facility operator, Philippine Geothermal Production Company Inc. (PGPC), with all generating units simultaneously operating at optimum capacity.

Asset Management Policies and Guidelines

  • Adopts and implements Asset Management policies and guidelines in alignment with AP guidelines.
  • Conducts audits of Asset Management policy and compliance to standards. Ensures preventive actions are taken on a timely manner and ensures review is done regularly and policies and procedures are updated as necessary.

Administrative Reports and Functions

  • Provides direction and oversight to the activities of the Performance Engineering group.
  • Ensures review is done regularly and policies and procedures are updated as necessary
  • Performs other related tasks and/or functions that may be assigned by Asset Manager

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer or Registered Electrical Engineer
  • With at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in geothermal, thermal, industrial, or similarly complex operations
  • With at least two (2) years of leadership experience in a supervisory capacity
