RMDC Engineer
Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (RMDC) Engineer
Location: Pasig City
Job Level: Senior Specialist
Business Unit: Transition Business Group
Power your future with AboitizPower.
As Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (RMDC) Engineer, you will serve as the proactive layer of oversight for the remote and centralized real-time monitoring of AboitizPower’s fleet of generation assets, contributing directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with site operations, maintenance teams, and digital technology groups to ensure safe and reliable plant operations, minimize unplanned downtime, optimize operational efficiency, and serve as the primary technical authority for monitoring platforms and predictive model integrity.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Real-Time Monitoring & Alert Detection: Actively monitor Anomaly Detection and Unified Health Management dashboards during shifts to track operational parameters, rapidly validate incoming alerts, and immediately flag and escalate deviations or potential risks.
- Initial Analysis & Triage: Conduct data-driven analysis by correlating data from PI Historian, DCS, SCADA, Maximo logs, operator rounds, and CBM systems to classify alerts as true threats or nuisance alerts and evaluate risk impacts on safety and plant performance.
- Site Coordination & Escalation: Serve as the central communication hub between RMDC and site teams to initiate physical inspections, investigate root causes, convert high-priority alerts into managed cases (e.g., Threats to Generation / TTG), and assign/endorse tickets following established escalation hierarchies (L0, L1, L2).
- Communication, Reporting & Value Realization: Prepare formal RMDC Service Reports with actionable recommendations, calculate direct financial and operational benefits (e.g., cost avoidance, production loss prevention), and document high-value use cases and lessons learned across the fleet.
- Model Integrity & Continuous Improvement: Bridge domain knowledge with data science by driving model retraining, providing feedback on dashboard usability, and ensuring machine learning models reflect plant operational realities.
- Compliance & Standards: Conform to company Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, and Information Security Management Systems policies (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 27001) and perform other duties assigned by the Team Lead.
To Succeed in this Role, We Need Someone Who:
- Demonstrates expert-level technical diagnostics and integrated process dynamics (e.g., coal plant operations) to swiftly distinguish critical operational threats from system noise.
- Possesses strong risk awareness and management capabilities to prioritize alert triaging and safeguard asset integrity.
- Acts as an effective cross-functional communicator and collaborator who can align RMDC findings with site reliability engineers, operations, and external stakeholders.
- Shows continuous improvement drive by bridging engineering domain expertise with data analytics and machine learning tools to optimize fleet reliability.
What You Will Need:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field).
- Minimum 4–5 years of professional experience in plant operations, performance monitoring, or industrial control system diagnostics, preferably in power generation.
- Professional Engineering License required.
- Certifications (Advantage): OSIsoft PI System / AVEVA PI Certification, Asset Performance Management (APM) Certification, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), or ISO 55001 Asset Management Awareness.
Technical / Functional Skills
- Proficiency in real-time decision support systems, including Anomaly Detection, Unified Health Management (UHM), DCS, SCADA, and reliability-centric dashboards.
- Strong data integration and diagnostic skills across PI Historian, Maximo maintenance logs, CBM systems, operator round inputs, and predictive digital streams.
- Core knowledge in integrated process dynamics, asset and process optimization, risk assessment, and predictive model integrity.
