The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all mechanical systems and equipment (excluding Main Turbine and Turbine Control Systems) in the geothermal power plant. This involves leading the mechanical team in executing overhauling, upgrade, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks, improving equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime, and adhering to industry standards and environmental regulations.

MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Maintenance Delivery: Oversee and manage the overhauling, upgrade, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and RCM specialists, ensuring adherence to maintenance procedures, SHE protocols, and equipment troubleshooting techniques.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans (including resources such as labor, materials, tools and equipment), schedules, and strategies for mechanical equipment and systems based on operational needs, equipment criticality, and maintenance best practices.
  • Asset Performance: Monitor equipment performance metrics, reliability indicators, and failure trends to identify maintenance needs, prioritize maintenance
    tasks, and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies.
    Asset Reliability: Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures, develop corrective action plans, and implement reliability improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability.
  • Reference Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, work instructions, standard maintenance procedures, and maintenance manuals to support maintenance activities, training, and knowledge sharing within the mechanical maintenance team.
  • Recording Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, maintenance logs, and documentation related to mechanical maintenance activities, repairs, and major inspections.

SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMPLIANCE

  • Guideline Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company guidelines, policies, procedures, and industry standards related to safety, environmental protection, and occupational health in all mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with COM in preparing regulatory reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation as required by regulatory agencies, demonstrating transparency, accountability, and proactive engagement with regulatory authorities.
  • Risk Management and Hazard Identification: Establish Hazard and Aspect Identification, Risk Assessment and Determination of Controls (HAIRADC) for mechanical maintenance tasks, identifying potential hazards, assessing risk levels, and implementing risk mitigation measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, analyzing root causes, identifying corrective actions, and implementing preventive measures to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.

BUDGET AND COST MANAGEMENT

  • Budget Planning and Development: Collaborate with the RCM manager to develop annual maintenance budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates based on equipment needs, maintenance schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Budget Monitoring: Collaborate with RCM manager to track actual mechanical maintenance expenses against budgeted amounts, and provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations to management on budget performance.
  • Cost Control: Collaborate with RCM manager in implementing cost management strategies, cost-saving initiatives, and efficiency measures to optimize maintenance expenditures, reduce operational costs, and improve budget utilization.
  • Procurement Management: Manage procurement processes for mechanical maintenance-related goods and services, including preparation of bid documents, technical proposal evaluation, service receiving, and vendor performance evaluation.

STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION AND MANAGEMENT

  • Internal Communication: Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including other departments, to coordinate mechanical maintenance efforts, address concerns, and align on organizational goals.
  • External Partnership: Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community representatives, to facilitate mechanical project coordination, compliance, and community relations.
  • Team Communication and Collaboration: Conduct regular toolbox meetings, and communication sessions to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
  • Performance Reporting: Generate mechanical maintenance reports, and presentations for management review, highlighting key performance indicators, achievements, challenges, and action plans.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs and skill enhancement initiatives for mechanical engineers and RCM specialists to support their professional growth and retention.
    Resource Optimization: Manage staffing levels, workload allocation, and resource planning within the mechanical maintenance team to ensure efficient operations and coverage of maintenance activities.
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Collaborate with HRD in recruiting, onboarding, and training new mechanical maintenance personnel, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and awareness to perform their duties effectively.
  • Performance Management: Conduct periodic performance appraisals to assess progress, provide feedback and address performance issues through constructive feedback and performance improvement plans
  • Employee Relations and Engagement: Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one sessions, and feedback sessions to address concerns, provide support, and boost morale within the mechanical team.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by his/her immediate superior.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed Mechanical Engineer (Registered Mechanical Engineer)
  • With at least 5 years of professional experience in geothermal, thermal, industrial, or other significant relevant fields
  • With at least 2 years of leadership experience in a maintenance or operations setting
  • With exposure to Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) practices such as FMECA and Asset Criticality Analysis
  • With proven capability in supervising maintenance tasks, planning schedules, and performing diagnostics, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment
