Market Analytics Supervisor

As Market Analytics Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting AboitizPower’s market modelling and analytics capability to support long-term strategic and investment decisions. You will contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the AP Business Groups, Business Units, and Corporate Service units to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

The Market Analytics Supervisor requires a combination of deep quantitative expertise with strategic thinking to generate insights on market trends, price trajectories, technology shifts, and policy developments shaping the power and energy sectors.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

1. 1. Develop, calibrate, and maintain power market modelling and forecasting.
   2. Lead deep-dive market and policy analysis, including regulatory and technological developments.
   3. Provide market and price assumptions to support feasibility studies, business cases, and portfolio planning
   4. Build modelling and quantitative analysis capabilities within and beyond the Strategy team.
   5. Drive continuous improvement in modelling tools, data quality, and analytical methodologies.

Outcomes Expected and Responsibilities:

Market Modelling and Forecasting

• Develop, calibrate, and maintain power market and other price forecasting models
• Translate long-term scenarios into model inputs to forecast the impact of key strategic uncertainties
• Define long-term macroeconomic assumptions such as but not limited to, GDP, interest rates, inflation rates, and exchange rates
• Challenge assumptions provided by other SMEs as needed (e.g. demand, committed builds, CAPEX, fuel costs, technical parameters, etc.) to come up with realistic model assumptions
• Ensure the robustness, transparency, and auditability of models through version control, documentation, and validation processes
• Automate analytical workflows using tools such as Python, R, Power BI, Excel VBA, or SQL
  
  

Market Policy and Analysis

• Oversee financial, operational, and legal assessments.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses on country-specific policies, trade regulations, and economic environments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Provide risk assessment reports and ensure all potential risks are communicated to senior management.
  
  

Decision Support and Stakeholder Alignment

• Provide market and price assumptions to support feasibility studies, business cases, and portfolio planning
• Partner with business groups and Finance to ensure consistent use of market views across the enterprise
• Translate complex technical analyses into clear strategic implications
• Communicate findings effectively to senior management and the Board
  
  

Leadership and Capability Building

• Build modelling and quantitative analysis capabilities within the Strategy team.
• Drive continuous improvement in modelling tools, data quality, and analytical methodologies.
• Establish data governance standards and foster collaboration across teams to institutionalize market intelligence.
  
  

Manage special projects

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the TL 
  
  

Support Strategy Team

• Support Strategy function operations (e.g., recruitment, budgeting, vendor relations, risk)
• Coach and mentor cross-functional team members / short-term assignees
  
  

To Succeed in this Role, we need someone who:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or any 4-year related course
• Master’s degree, preferred
• >3 years in Strategy, corporate planning or business development or consulting, investment banking, investing or equity research 
• Experience in electricity market modelling using forecast tools (e.g., EMCAS, Marketsym, Quafu, PLEXOS, etc.)
• Experience in business plan development and/or evaluation (preferred)
