The Supervisor - Legal is responsible for implementing and coordinating all functions related to legal and compliance issues for ARI Corp and ARI BUs

The position holder collaborates in the implementation of strategies and contributes to the smooth operation of all day-to-day activities pertaining to all functions of the Legal and Compliance Team of SRRL.

Outcomes Expected and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Legal Manager, provides legal advice on legal, regulatory and compliance issues, whether industry or non-industry related (eg, energy, labor, safety, health and environment issues, regulatory, permitting, land, contracts)
  • Together with the Legal Manager, conducts due diligence on land and other legal matters, as needed
  • Coordinates with external counsel for legal and compliance issues
  • Contributes to building partnerships with identified stakeholders, with respect to all legal & compliance issues.
  • Coordinates and implements strategies on compliance monitoring and audit, to ensure that all permits/contracts/agreements/compliance issues are property tracked and timely complied with for all ARI BUs
  • Conducts legal research and develops reference materials as needed
  • Drafts contracts, legal opinions, contracts, agreements and other legal documents as needed, with the guidance of the Legal Manager
  • Stays current on relevant industry and government compliance programs related to renewable energy and provides updates regarding changes in legislation, regulations and other requirements that may result in organizational response.
  • Attends public consultations with relevant external stakeholders to represent ARI interests, as instructed by the Legal manager
  • Represents ARI and ARI BUs in legal proceedings, as required, and negotiates with identified stakeholders for legal and compliance issues, if required or instructed by the Team Leader
  • Facilitates timely completion of compliance matters by coordinating with relevant internal teams for submissions. 
  • Ensures the regular coordination with identified Legal and Compliance stakeholders to ensure open communication lines 
  • Ensures and implements proper filing of legal documents, compliances and permits.
  • Reports progress of all legal and compliance issues to team leaders.
  • Coordinates with other departments for the necessary information or assistance required for the timely submission of all legal and compliance requirements
  • Supervises the Legal and Compliance team specialists and paralegals to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the team leader.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed Lawyer
  • With at least three (3) years of professional experience in the legal field
  • Must have prior experience in an established and reputable law firm
  • Ideally, with exposure to government agencies in the energy sector (e.g., NCIP, DENR, LGUs, DOE, ERC, NGCP)
  • With a strong advantage if equipped with a working knowledge of energy regulation
  • Experience or familiarity with project management would be considered an asset
