General Accounting Specialist

This position is responsible for timely and proper recording of financial transactions to assigned General Ledger (GL) accounts in conformity with accounting standards, departmental SOPs and business rules established in the financial system. Also responsible for ensuring accuracy of assigned GL accounts as source of accurate information for financial reporting. This position is responsible for providing assistance in the preparation of Financial Statements for statutory reporting; and internal reporting within the Company and Aboitiz group. Also responsible for ascertaining payments to vendors and employers are legitimate company liabilities, properly authorized, approved and supported by valid and tax compliant documents.
Review financial transactions affecting assigned GL accounts and prepare journal entries ensuring conformity with accounting standards, in accordance with Company policy, business rules and procedures established in the financial system, and distributed to proper accounts and cost centers.
Perform regular substantiation, reconciliation and analysis of assigned GL accounts to ascertain accuracy of the information in the various modules of the financial system; and to ensure accuracy of balances of assets, liabilities, revenue and expense accounts. Prepare entries for necessary correction and adjustment.
Complete assigned month-end and year-end tasks in accordance with established due dates. Ascertain completeness of recorded costs and expenses; and make necessary accruals.
Participate in the completion of monthly report packages, related reports, variance analysis, and analytical schedules, and circulate to the internal users within Aboitiz Group.
Obtain and provide information, records, documentation, summaries, calculations, reports, reconciliation and analysis of financial transactions to respond to inquiries and aid financial reporting, budgeting, financial audits, tax examinations, and due diligence.
Review and process payable transactions to ascertain the following:
Transactions are authorized, duly approved, and in conformity with Company policies.
Transactions are supported by valid documents compliant with BIR invoicing requirements submitted in official Company forms.
Transactions are recorded on time in accordance with established business rules and procedures, in conformity with accounting standards, and distributed to proper accounts and cost centers.
Required taxes are applied and recognized.
Interact with Procurement, Officers, and Employees, to address issues or concerns regarding financial transactions, such as the nature of the transaction, inadequate approval, incomplete or improper documentation, discrepancies, errors and deviations from policies and procedures.
Perform reconciliation and analysis of vendors, employees, related parties’, and third parties’ accounts to ensure liabilities are paid on due dates and accurate balances are maintained at all times.

Short term cash projections
Ensures all tax filings are prepared and filed
Ensures all regulatory filings are made
Ensures that Business Permits are obtained
Maintain an orderly filing of documents and records that are assigned for safekeeping
Perform tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor relating to special assignments and projects, and tasks that will be assigned from time to time.
Perform Accounting operational tasks during long absence of other Accounting personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Proficient in ERP systems, MS Office, and regulatory compliance, with strong analytical, communication, and independent work skills.
- With at least one (1) year of extensive background and experience in General Accounting
