About Us
1882 Energy Ventures (1882EV) is the corporate venture building arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), a leading vertically-integrated player in the energy industry. Our mission is to shape the decentralization of energy by building and scaling start-ups that will decentralize the energy system and create more sustainable homes, businesses, mobility, and networks. We believe that we can create smarter and more sustainable communities if we decentralize our energy system. It will help us deepen decarbonization and improve overall system efficiency in order to support economic growth and development.
Role Overview
To be able to disrupt the traditional but high-opportunity energy sector, we need visionaries who are passionate about using innovative technologies in order to solve classic pain points. We are looking for highly entrepreneurial leaders, actively seeking opportunity areas where AboitizPower can leverage its unfair advantage in order to solve problems and win in the space. As the Entrepreneur-in-Residence, you will ideate, build, and launch new ventures from the ground up, as well as provide guidance and support in growing and scaling newly launched ventures. You may also be given the opportunity to become the Founder/CEO of a corporate-backed venture that suits your expertise and leadership style.
Key Responsibilities

Ideation: Able to ideate high-growth potential ventures by identifying customer pain points, understanding market opportunity areas, and mapping out solutions that leverage unfair advantages

Venture Building: Able to start ventures from the ground up–concept planning and design, product, business model, team hiring

General Management: Be responsible for overall operations, growth, and financial performance of the venture

Stakeholder Management: Liaise with venture board, investors, regulatory bodies, B2B and B2C customers, partners, business ecosystem, etc.
Preferred Qualities

Previous experience as a founder or senior leader/general manager in leading early-stage startups that disrupted traditional industries

Quick to learn about new industries and technologies, and able to adjust and pivot when presented with new information such as regulatory limitations, market feedback, technological innovations, etc.

Entrepreneurial, curious, and deeply passionate about making a difference towards some of the world’s most important problems and opportunities, especially in the energy sector

Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive strategic initiatives

Inspiring and motivating employees towards shared vision and goals, demonstrated by exceptional team culture built
