Energy Economics Specialist
This position is responsible for providing modeling and research support to energy market analysis and forecasting used by various groups in AboitizPower as a key input to commercial decision-making and long-term planning and strategy.
Role Summary:
This position is responsible for providing modeling and research support to energy market analysis and forecasting used by various groups in AboitizPower as a key input to commercial decision-making and long-term planning and strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of Economics, Business Management, any Engineering or Math related
- Preferably with post-graduate studies
- At least 3 years experience in Energy Economics and/or Energy Trading, or other analytical roles in Commercial Operations in Power business
- At least 2 years experience in electricity market modeling using forecasting tools or statistical price modeling (e.g., EMCAS, Aurora, PLEXOS, R, LEAP, etc.)
- At least 2 years experience in statistical/econometric modeling in electricity-related output data
Competencies:
- Power industry market dynamics and operations (Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Retail Supply)
- Power industry laws, rules, and regulations (Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Retail Supply)
- Power supply agreements and retail supply contracts
- Quantitative modeling and scenario simulation (e.g., demand or price forecasting models)
- Macroeconomic analysis and Econometrics, including energy demand forecasting
- Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
- Critical thinking, strategic, tactical creativity, and systems and structure design
- Analytical, statistical, quantitative and deduction skills
