Job Summary

 

The Electrical Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the power distribution system to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electricity to customers. He/she contributes to engineering studies, project implementation, system improvement, customer servicing, and operational support across various engineering units. The role is designed for both entry-level and early-career engineers. New hires will undergo a structured training program covering network planning, distribution line and substation operations, power quality, customer servicing, engineering support processes, and other engineering functions within the Distribution Utility.

 

  1. Power System Operations & Support
    • Support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of substations, distribution lines, and electrical equipment
    • Assist in preparing technical reports, load profiles, system status analyses, and engineering documentation
    • Participate in system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and testing activities to ensure system reliability
  2. Customer and Network Engineering Support
    • Conduct field surveys, prepare basic designs, cost estimates, and technical evaluations for customer service applications and minor network projects
    • Assist in validating customer-installed electrical facilities to ensure compliance with company standards and the Philippine Electrical Code
  3. Planning & System Analysis
    • Support engineering studies such as load flow, reliability analysis, voltage regulation, and power quality assessments
    • Contribute to data gathering and preliminary simulations using engineering tools and spreadsheets
  4. Project Execution & Coordination
    • Assist in implementing approved network improvement projects, system upgrades, and maintenance activities
    • Coordinate with contractors, service providers, internal engineering teams, and regulatory agencies as needed
  5. Quality, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all engineering work complies with company standards, safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies
    • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in activities related to ISO, EHS, cybersecurity, and data privacy compliance

 

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Electrical Engineer (REE).
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in distribution utility operations, design, system planning, or substation operations is highly preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of distribution line, substation equipment, power system principles, and applicable engineering standards.
  • Willing to work in both office and field environments, depending on operational requirements.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
  • Amenable to assignment within the Engineering Group, including but not limited to Power Systems Planning, Substation Operations, and Customer Retail Services.
  • Preferably with a professional driver's license (at least A, B, and B2).
  • Able to work on-site at Subic EnerZone, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City.
