Job ID:  2665
Location:  San Carlos
Company:  Hedcor Sibulan, Inc.
Department:  Special Projects
Employment Type:  Regular
Work Arrangement:  Hybrid

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing protection, planning, automation, and control systems for renewable energy projects—including Solar PV, Hydropower, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This includes developing AC and DC electrical systems, transmission lines, substations, and interconnection designs in alignment with the company’s protection philosophy and operational goals. The role covers the full project lifecycle: from desktop studies, modeling, and feasibility analysis to detailed design, cost estimation, construction planning, and on-site execution. With minimal supervision, the engineer ensures that all designs and implementations meet safety, quality, and timeline standards for efficient project delivery.

  • Analyze drawings, layouts, sketches and other related data to determine the capacity of the solar PV system as well as recommend the PV modules and inverters to be used
  • Conceptualizes & designs protection systems for new and expansion projects. This includes, protection one-line and schematic diagrams and inputs/outputs assignments.
  • Prepares protection settings (engineering & logic) that adequately protect the system components during abnormal and fault conditions. Make coordination studies if necessary.
  • Evaluates pre-wired protection and control diagrams for outsourced projects.
  • Coordinates approved design on protection and control scheme with project engineers assigned to each project.
  • Monitors projects by conducting site inspection, testing and audits to ensure compliance to design and specifications. Reviews updates from the implementing team.
  • Prepares Protection Development Plan.
  • Research new development and innovations. Provide Single Line Diagram and Bill of Materials. Review and consider cost, safety and effectiveness of the materials and equipment
  • Assess the site's electrical infrastructure to determine the feasibility of interconnecting the solar project
  • Evaluating the capacity of the existing electrical infrastructure and determining any necessary upgrades.
  • Determine the appropriate sizing of the solar project's electrical system based on the site's energy demand and solar irradiance data.
  • Selection of the appropriate size and type of solar panels, inverters, and other electrical components.
  • Design the electrical system for the solar project, including the solar array layout, DC and AC electrical system designs, grounding, and protection systems.
  • Conceptualize and prepare presentation materials for the department. Present reports.
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
  • Prepare equipment specifications for solar panels, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical components.
  • Use specialized software (PVsyst, AutoCAD) to model and analyze the performance of the solar project's electrical system. This includes conducting simulations to optimize the system design for maximum energy output and efficiency.
  • Ensure that the solar project's electrical system complies with all applicable electrical codes and standards, such as PEC, IEEE
  • Oversee the interconnection and commissioning of the solar project with the local electrical grid. This involves coordinating with the utility company and performing system tests to ensure that the solar project is operating safely and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Must be a Licensed /Electrical Engineer
  • Preferably with experience in handling works related to solar, hydro, BESS power plant project development
  • With preference if experience in solar PV, hydro, BESS systems is an advantage
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Project
  • Knowledgeable on electrical standards such as NEC/PEC, IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NFPA, PGC.
  • Knowledgeable in protection systems of substation, switchyard and transmission line.
  • With extensive background and knowledge in reading engineering plans and making reports
  • Driven, responsible, punctual, and know how to get things done
