Assistant Vice President for Legal
Role Summary
The Legal Executive for the Renewable Business Group leads and manages all legal functions of Aboitiz Renewables, including strategy, compliance, contracts, and regulatory engagement. The role ensures that legal strategies align with business objectives, safeguards the company from risks, and supports the Renewable team in navigating a dynamic regulatory and business environment. This position also provides leadership in people development and fosters a high-performance, values-driven legal team.
Key Outcomes and Responsibilities
1. Strategy, Planning, and Policy Development

Strategy Development: Collaborate in formulating medium- to long-term legal strategies aligned with Aboitiz Renewables’ goals.

Implementation & Monitoring: Cascade and oversee execution of strategic plans, ensuring alignment across the Legal Team.

Evaluation & Improvement: Regularly review effectiveness of strategies and adapt to evolving regulatory and business landscapes.

Policy Engagement: Stay abreast of relevant legislation, represent the company in public consultations, and recommend revisions to enhance regulatory frameworks in favor of Aboitiz Renewables.
2. Risk Management and Compliance

Anticipate emerging legal and regulatory trends and advise stakeholders with actionable recommendations.

Identify key legal risks and design practical mitigation strategies.

Ensure timely compliance with laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Lead contract execution, providing expert legal advice on energy, corporate, environmental, labor, land, and commercial law.
3. People and Team Leadership

Lead and coach a team of legal professionals, ensuring individual and team performance targets are met.

Cultivate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the Legal Team.

Identify and approve training programs to build legal and regulatory expertise, supporting career growth and succession planning.
Requirements

At least 10 years of legal practice, with a minimum of 7 years in a top-tier law firm.

At least 7 years of experience managing teams.

Bachelor’s Degree in Law or related field; must be a Philippine-licensed lawyer.

Strong background working with government agencies and regulators in the energy sector (DOE, ERC, NGCP, DENR, NCIP, LGUs).

Proven expertise in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
