As Assistant Plant Operator, you will support the Materials Handling team in day-to-day operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible handling of materials, including conveying, transferring, and loading materials, as well as assisting in ash hauling and diesel tank farm operations and other auxiliary equipment activities.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Oversee coal and ash handling processes, including equipment such as ship unloaders, stackers/reclaimers, conveyors, dust suppression systems, and diesel tanks.
  • Conduct prestart checks, perform functional testing, identify equipment defects, and raise maintenance work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies, implement the permit to work (PTW) system, perform emergency response activities, and facilitate equipment isolation using PTW/LOTO procedures.
  • Monitor areas daily for spontaneous combustion risks, coal spillages, and housekeeping issues, and collaborate with operators to manage detected spontaneous combustion.
  • Unload diesel fuel tankers, record tank levels, and drive assigned Material Handling vehicles.
  • Maintain daily checklists, log sheets, and time records, document operational parameters, and prepare reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Provide theoretical and practical training to new field operators and properly hand over all relevant on-line equipment and system limitations to the next shift.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering course is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in a coal-fired power plant, or a related industry such as mining, which is advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license is an advantage.

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Systems monitoring: Ability to interface with the MMI (Man-Machine Interface) system to monitor operations and report discrepancies.
  • Equipment proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in materials handling technology and equipment, including competence in operating control panels.
  • Software navigation: Competence in raising work orders via CMMS and preparing reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Vehicle operation: Ability to drive assigned Material Handling vehicles safely and report any faults.
