As an Assistant Energy Trader, you will support the optimization of power plant dispatch and trading activities in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), helping maximize plant revenues while ensuring compliance with market rules and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the Commercial Services Unit, Plant Operations, Fuels Management, System Operations, and external market stakeholders to deliver reliable trading operations, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Execute day-ahead and real-time energy and ancillary service bids in WESM based on market conditions, plant capability, and contractual obligations.
- Monitor electricity market prices, grid conditions, and plant performance to support optimal dispatch decisions and maximize trading opportunities.
- Analyze market trends, competitor behavior, generation data, and system demand to develop trading strategies and prepare trading performance reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate nominations, dispatch schedules, regulatory compliance, and efficient trading operations.

What You Will Need:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or any four-year business-related course.
- At least 2 years of experience in the power industry, preferably in energy trading, energy planning, market operations, or financial risk modeling.
- Fresh graduates with excellent academic records are also encouraged to apply.
Technical / Functional Skills:
- Knowledge of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and power market operations.
- Strong analytical skills in market analysis, forecasting, and trading decision support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and report preparation, with the ability to analyze operational and trading data.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
