AVP - Operations and Maintenance Solar
This position is responsible for leading and managing the generation assets of the plants to maximize revenue based on available irradiance, reduce operating costs, minimize generation losses and maintenance expenses, and maintain industry-standard or higher plant availability and reliability factors.
- Directs and orchestrates operations and maintenance of all the plants in the grid within company policies and procedures.
PLANT OPERATIONS
- Strategize on how the grids can attain productivity, plant availability, efficiency, reliability, profitability, and resource requirements for Operations and Maintenance to support the company's strategic directions
- Ensures that the plants generate to the maximum level allowed by the available irradiance, without wastage, to maximize energy production and, hence, the revenue stream by reviewing and monitoring operations reports and KPIs from Team Leaders.
- Ensures that operating procedures and processes are fully documented with manuals, instructions, and procedures to ensure generation assets' safe, repeatable, and managed operation.
- Ensures that the plants are operated, dispatched, and logged following EPSA, NGCP, and customer requirements.
MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT
- Develops and recommends maintenance programs that achieve plant objectives, allow full control of plant performance, and ensure plant availability and reliability to meet the business's needs.
- Manages the proper implementation of maintenance programs by ensuring the maximum usage of the Maintenance Management Software tool (CMMS) and expanding its usage to operations and other technical services. Guides Grid Managers in analyzing the output of CMMS to achieve the desired efficiency and safety of all the generating units.
Reviews maintenance schedules for significant equipment such as transformers, MV stations, inverters, and substations to ensure there is enough time to take corrective or preventive measures or source service providers in case unfavorable conditions are detected. - Ensures that scheduled equipment tests are conducted, test results are reviewed, trends are established, and values are compared to standard allowable values.
ASSET MANAGEMENT
- Performs the duty of Chief Asset Manager and reports to AM-Asset Owner
- Accountable for implementing a Solar-specific Asset Management Plan
- Ensures assets are managed following design performance & specifications, including legal, environmental, and safety requirements
Ensures implementation of asset condition assessment. - Ensures the conduct of asset prioritization and criticality for grids specific asset strategies
- Ensures the development and implementation of grid specific asset strategies.
- Ensures development of grid-specific spares management system in coordination with SCM
- Reviews root-cause analysis of asset/s and asset system/s failures or incidents; identifies lessons learned, including recommendations to the Technical Services Department and AM Committee
- Prepares budgetary requirements per Finance's budgeting process.
INVENTORY, SUPPLY AND LOGISTICS
- Ensures availability and accessibility of appropriate resources, tools, equipment, transportation, and services to ensure sustained optimized operations and maintenance of the plant
- Periodically reviews current plant spare parts inventories and recommends procurement to minimize generation losses in planned or corrective maintenance cases.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Develops and enhances workforce maintenance and operations capability and qualifications to ensure sustainability and development of the maintenance and operations functions.
- Identifies reviews and recommends staff training needs to enhance skills, abilities, knowledge/awareness, and teamwork.
- Evaluates the performance and contributions of direct reports based on targets.
RISK MANAGEMENT
- Develops and maintains emergency response and management plans to ensure risks are managed and mitigated
- Ensures all accidents are thoroughly investigated, the root causes determined, and corrective actions taken to prevent recurrence.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Reviews and recommends operations plans, annual budget, and projections for the succeeding year based on forecast, including preparation and monitoring of CAPEX.
- Monitors monthly expenditures for Operations and Maintenance and provides variance explanations to Management as needed.
IMPROVEMENT
- Ensures that the principles of quality management are inculcated into the operation to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of operations and maintenance by encouraging Quality Improvement Projects from Team Leaders
- Ensures that internal audits are conducted periodically on operations and maintenance procedures, including safety aspects, non-conformance reports are documented, and corrective measures are implemented as necessary.
COMMUNITY AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
- Assists and participates in Community Relations Programs approved by Management to maintain and improve relationships with host community residents and local government unit officials
COMPLIANCE MONITORING TO GOVERNMENT REGULATORY
- Ensures compliance of the plants to the DOE, ERC, Grid Code, EPIRA Law, ERB, NGCP, PSALM, and WESM requirements, as with ECC, EPSA, and all MOA obligations
- Helps ensure that all necessary permits and licenses for an unhampered operation of the plants are secured and complied with
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a licensed engineer, preferably in Electrical, Electronics or Civil
- With at least 10 years of professional experience in Solar Power Plant and/or BESS operations
- With at least 7 years of leadership experience in a supervisory capacity within a power generation facility
- With involvement in at least one enterprise-wide project or a minimum of three function-related projects
- Preferably with a postgraduate diploma or master’s degree relevant to the field
